Celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee with a tree planting at Protheroe House in Tottenham

28 Feb 2022

Residents at Protheroe House, One Housing’s senior living scheme in Tottenham, were delighted to plant a cherry tree in their sensory garden to celebrate Queen’s Jubilee.

Residents at Protheroe House were first to do so in the local area, as part of the ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’ Jubilee initiative.

The tree, known as Prunus Amanogowa or ‘Flagpole Cherry’ is perfect for smaller urban gardens and will provide flowers and food for bees and birds throughout the year. Residents will also be able to enjoy the fragrant cherry blossom in spring.

The Deputy Lieutenant for Haringey, Captain Peter Baker RNR, RD attended the ceremony on behalf of Her Majesty.

Captain Baker, said of the event:

I look forward to seeing the tree on the interactive map and to watch it grow in the coming years. It was a pleasure to meet you all and see the amazing work you do for your residents
